PROGRAM INFORMATION
Greeting Vibrant Minds Community!
It is so nice to be teaching in person again and writing to you about how we are renewing the after-school music program at Vibrant Minds. It is just a fact of life that our virtual time together was disruptive to the flow of the program we’ve developed and our ability to have a good transition from one school year to the next. The good news is that we are all at a school that is as genuine as a school can be in its attempt to always do the best it can for its scholars. We have been as successful at this as any school I have ever seen.
One of the reasons for our success is and has always been parent involvement. From the beginning there was an awareness that our school was something special. There was a sense of camaraderie and unity of purpose that was in large part due to parent involvement. Please keep this in mind as we all move forward and reinstate or add things that make the school so special for our scholars. Things like music, cheerleading, and photography, all need parent support both with materials and morale.
One of the things we (school staff) want to improve on is our ability to effectively communicate with both scholars and their parents about the activities and necessities of involvement in these kinds of activities. I know that I have mentioned a dedicated music page in the parent portal or web site or other appropriate venue. The interruption caused by the pandemic and personnel changes have been problematic in this endeavor. We are optimistic about being able to provide you with a trusted and consistent line of communication in the near future. It is taking more time than we anticipated to get this year’s program up and running. Some of it has been our ability to get enrollment information. Hopefully, the line of communication being created/developed will address this and parental willingness to work with it will accomplish our goal. The number of scholars we are working with is more than in the past (that’s great news) so our ability to have a clear and understandable way to work together will be a big help.
One of the things we want to address is the lack of a choral and string program. We would like to add these opportunities for the second trimester. So, look for the opportunity to sign up for these classes if you want through our improved line of communication. Coming soon!
When the pandemic started and I couldn’t get a haircut, I said I wouldn’t cut my hair until things got back to normal. Please help get things back to normal so I can cut my hair. It’s longer now than it was in 1971 when Debbie and I first met.
It’s so good to be teaching in person again. See you at our performances.
