MEET MRS. MURPHY
Hello! My name is Rachelle Murphy, and I am the occupational therapist for Vibrant Minds Charter School.
Occupational therapists work with individuals across the lifespan to be able to do the things they need and want to do. We can be found in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, private practices, community programs, and schools – just to name a few! In the school setting, occupational therapists often work with children who need additional support in their fine and visual motor, or sensory processing skills so that they can participate fully in their school environment. My background in occupational therapy includes both school-based pediatric practice and higher education. In addition to working at Vibrant Minds, I also serve as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Assistant Professor for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Southern California University of Health Science. Prior to that position, I’ve held several higher education leadership positions for occupational therapy education programs and have worked in various school-districts in the Southern California area. I love working with your scholars, and it’s been an honor to be able to work with Vibrant Minds over the years! I obtained my master’s degree in occupational therapy from Loma Linda University and a doctorate in health science from Nova Southeastern University. I am also board certified in lifestyle medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. My professional passion has always been in working with children and families and helping them realize the best versions of themselves. I am a wife, mom to one boy and two girls, two cats, one gecko, and one fish. I love to spend my time outdoors in nature either running and hiking, watching my kids play sports (soccer and gymnastics), traveling, camping, and doing yoga. Contact me at [email protected] |
