MEET MR. BUI
After 10 years of being away from the classroom, I was extremely excited to return to my passion of teaching. I started off my career many years ago as an after-school program mentor in the Whittier City School District. Then I moved to the Anaheim City School District and became a 5th grade teacher. In the following years, I taught 6th grade and 1st grade. Dr. Schroeder was my principal during that time.
I worked in education for about 10 years after I finished college, but then events that were out of my control unfolded and forced me to rethink a different career path. I was part of the large teacher lay-off pool that happened after the housing market crashed in 2008. Losing my job was difficult, and so I had to make the tough decision to venture into a different career. I’ve always had a “good eye” for creativity, so I started my own business and became a wedding photographer. It was hard, but I managed to make it successful, and I was able to earn several international awards including being named top 10 in the world. During my time as a wedding photographer, I’ve taught photography workshops across the country. So, I was still able to teach, but it just wasn’t the same. I didn’t feel the same passion as when I was a 6th grade teacher many years ago. When I heard there was an opening at Vibrant Minds, I jumped on the opportunity to be a grade school teacher again and to be able to work with Dr. Schroeder once more. I am one of the TOSA’s at Vibrant Minds for the 2023/24 school year. I’ll continue to work with all grade levels, and my focus is to help implement Project-Based Learning in the classroom, as well as the after-school program. I will also be teaching an elective class after school in the field of photography and cinematography. I know it’s going to be an amazing school year, and I look forward very much to working with the staff, scholars, and parents at Vibrant Minds Charter School. Contact me at [email protected] |
