PROGRAM INFORMATION
Our After-School Big Labs Program is offered Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on all days school is in session. Our After-School Big Labs Program is free and is primarily intended for Vibrant Minds Charter School scholars in Grades 3-6. The focus is on VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and life skills. The format is based on an elective system so that scholars may enroll in areas in which they are highly interested so they can grow their interests and talents into strengths. Enrollment is opened at the beginning of each trimester, so there needs to be a commitment or re-commitment each trimester to avoid inconsistent attendance, which is disruptive to the learning process. There are three separate elective blocks of time, and the schedule is as follows:
3:00-3:15 p.m. -- Snack in Picnic Plaza
3:15-4:05 p.m. -- First Elective Block
4:10-5:00 p.m. -- Second Elective Block
5:05-5:55 p.m. -- Third Elective Block
The hope is to keep the groups small (10-20 scholars) so the specialists have an opportunity to work closely with each scholar. Scholars who are enrolled in the GOALS for Vibrant Minds Program are welcomed to enroll in the electives on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, as long as room is available. While the classes are free of charge, there are limitations in terms of space. If there is an over-subscription, a waiting list will be developed. Download and fill out the registration when it becomes available. There will also be a description of each of the elective options. When the Big Labs Program resumes, please return the forms to the school office prior to the start of each trimester. That way, we will be able to organize the classes for the first week of each trimester.
